Vodafone in talks with IBM for renewal of IT contract set to expire in June 2016

Vodafone India is in discussions with IBM for renewal of a $1 billion IT outsourcing contract that is set to expire in June 2016. Vodafone outsources services such as management of application development and the IT network to IBM.
Meanwhile, IBM is also planning to sell its data analytics solutions to Vodafone as part of the order. Vodafone already has a multi-vendor environment within the company in IT with TCS, Wipro, and TechM managing various segments.Earlier in 2014, Bharti Airtel had renewed part of its outsourcing deal with IBM for five years at an estimated value of $750 million-$850 million. Apart from Vodafone, IBM also plans to renew an IT outsourcing deal worth $800 million-$900 million with Idea Cellular which will be up for renewal in 2019-20.
